Set up BoardFlight
BoardFlight for your computer is the library in a window of its own, and the part of BoardFlight that can reach your Board.
You need your Board switched on, and a computer on the same network as it. You set BoardFlight up once; after that, installing a game is one press.
Get BoardFlight for your computer
Download BoardFlight and install it.
- macOS. Open the file you downloaded, drag BoardFlight into Applications and open it from there. If your Mac asks whether to open an app downloaded from the internet, choose Open.
- Windows. Open the file you downloaded to install BoardFlight. The Windows version is not signed yet, so Windows may say it does not recognise the app. If it does, choose More info, then Run anyway.
- Linux. Run the AppImage (you may have to make it executable first), or install the .deb.
Sign in
Press Sign in with your browser. BoardFlight shows a code and opens your browser on a page that shows the same code. Check that the two match, then approve it on that page.
No account yet? That page makes one. You never type a password into BoardFlight itself.
Find your Board
BoardFlight looks for your Board on your network and lists what it finds. Pick yours. If your computer asks whether BoardFlight may find devices on your local network, allow it.
Nothing found? Check that your Board is switched on and on the same network as your computer, then type the Board’s address into BoardFlight instead. Board’s documentation says the address is listed on the Board under SettingsSystemPair a computerShow pairing code.
Pair your Board
Your Board shows a request of its own. Approve it on the Board, and BoardFlight moves on by itself.
No request on the Board’s screen? A Board can be set not to take pairing requests from the network. Pair with a code instead: show the six-digit pairing code on your Board and type it into BoardFlight. Board’s documentation puts it on the Board under SettingsSystemPair a computerShow pairing code.
Say which pieces you have
BoardFlight asks which piece sets are with your Board. Some games come in a version for each set, and this is how it picks yours.
Choose whether BoardFlight keeps running
BoardFlight asks once: Keep BoardFlight running? Say yes and it stays in the menu bar on a Mac, or the system tray on Windows and Linux, when you close its window, and it starts when you sign in to your computer.
A game you ask for from your phone, and automatic updates, reach your Board only while BoardFlight is running.
Install a game
Open any game in the library and press Install. BoardFlight downloads the game to your computer, then puts it on your Board, and shows how far it has got. When it says the game is installed, it is on your Board.
