When it does not work
What to check when BoardFlight cannot find or pair your Board, and when an install does not go through.
With BoardFlight on your computer
BoardFlight does not find your Board
Check that your Board is switched on, and on the same network as the computer BoardFlight is on. Then press Look again.
If your computer asked whether BoardFlight may find devices on your local network and the answer was no, BoardFlight may not be able to see your Board at all. Allow it in your computer’s settings, then look again.
If the search still finds nothing, type the Board’s address into BoardFlight. Board’s documentation says the address is listed on the Board under SettingsSystemPair a computerShow pairing code.
Nobody answered the pairing request
Pairing waits for somebody to approve the request on the Board’s screen. If nobody does in time, BoardFlight says there was no answer. If the request is still on your Board’s screen, dismiss it there, then try again.
No request appears on your Board
A Board can be set not to take pairing requests from the network. Look in the Board’s settings under System, or pair with the six-digit code instead. Board’s documentation puts it on the Board under SettingsSystemPair a computerShow pairing code. A code is only taken while it is on the Board’s screen.
If Windows does not recognise the installer
The Windows version of BoardFlight is not signed yet. If Windows says it does not recognise the app, choose More info, then Run anyway.
A game is queued and nothing happens
A queued install runs only while BoardFlight is running on a computer that has paired that Board. Open BoardFlight there. A request waits seven days. What “the next time BoardFlight is open” means
An install failed
The game’s page shows what your Board said, word for word. A Board will not put an older version over a newer one, and will not take a version signed differently from the copy it has. Either can go in once the game is removed from the Board, which removes its saved data too. In BoardFlight on your computer the page offers Remove it and install, and your computer asks you to confirm first.
BoardFlight says it is too old
Download the current version from the download page and install it.
Asking somebody for help
BoardFlight keeps a log of what it did. Open it from the app’s menu, with Show Log File. Sign-in codes, pairing codes and tokens are never written to it.
